From S/S 22 trends to A/W 22 trends, this article is a compilation of key trends that we will see in the world of interiors throughout 2022.
A Hopeful Future
Spurred by a year of confusion, hopelessness and isolation, the trends of 2022 submerge themselves in optimism, positivity, and fresh beginnings. Coined as ‘Radical Optimism’ by WGSN in the 2022 Forecast Trend Report for Walls and Floors, (Read More Here) creating an energised and invigorating interior is a key driver for designers. This will be put in place within hospitality, commercial, retail and public spaces through the use of large patterns and shapes dispersed
across walls and furniture as well as bright and vibrant colour combinations.
Natural Textures
Following on from 2021, raw and natural textures will continue to rise in popularity within interiors. Mimicking the surfaces of the earth, materials such as untreated wood, rock and stone will be used to create an unbalanced combination of texture and where these natural materials are not present, patterns and colours inspired by or replicating them will be present. Artificial replication for these materials can be seen on carpets, tiles, curtains wallpapers and many other surfaces.
Enhanced Brights
Boosting the mood of interiors will be vibrant colours. With some of the colours deriving from the world of digital fancy and others being enhanced from already popular colours such as Lime Green or Magenta, a bold and energetic colour palette will help to elevate interiors. Key colours from this trend can be found in the WGSN Acid Accent colour palette from the Lifestyle & Interiors Colour Forecast S/S 22. (Read More Here)
Bubble Gum Flowers
With pop art influence, charming and fun florals are rapidly growing in popularity and cartoon-style flower shapes will continue to be used on motif features, decorative items, kitchenware sets, textiles and art pieces. Many are designed with pastel hues or vibrant neon’s.
New trends pop up every week and there will no doubt be many more by the end of the year. Whether it be a micro-trend or macro-trend, there is always something new to see and admire. Thanks for reading!
